Brad Himour

Brad Himour is a terrestrial and underwater archaeologist who earned a B.A. in History and M.A. in Anthropology and Archaeology from the University of Saskatchewan. As a graduate student intern at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, he spent six months excavating a 1559 Spanish colonial shipwreck. His work on Indigenous rock art sites has been published in Canadian Geographic, the Globe and Mail, as well as presented at local, national, and international conferences such as the George Wright Society Conference in Denver, Colorado. In 2012, Brad was the author and lead instructor for the first university accredited course in underwater archaeology in Peru. In 2013, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee medal for Indigenous engagement in western Canada. Brad currently lives in Calgary, Alberta and continues his work as a writer, photographer, archaeologist, and Indigenous liaison.
