Today, we stand in solidarity for Moose Hide Campa Today, we stand in solidarity for Moose Hide Campaign Day. 🧡

🌱 What began as a BC-born, Indigenous-led grassroots movement has grown into a nationwide call to action, engaging Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities alike in the effort to end violence against women and children.

By wearing the moose hide pin, we honour survivors, raise awareness, and commit to standing up against gender-based violence across Canada. Together, through ceremony, education, and collective action, we can create meaningful change 🫶

It’s Mental Health Week! This week (May 4–10) is a It’s Mental Health Week! This week (May 4–10) is a reminder of something we all need: connection. 💚

🧠 Connection is at the heart of our well-being, yet so many people across Canada are feeling alone. This week, we’re joining CMHA’s call to build stronger communities by sparking small, everyday moments of connection with others and with ourselves.

A message, a walk, a check-in, a shared laugh; these simple acts can make a meaningful difference. Because when we connect, we support one another, reduce isolation, and we strengthen mental health for everyone. 🤝

🫶 Let’s take time to reach out, listen, and show up. Together, we can help more people feel seen, supported, and connected.

May 5 is a National Day of remembrance and activis May 5 is a National Day of remembrance and activism honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. ❤️

Inspired by the REDress Project created by Métis artist Jaime Black, the red dresses we see displayed; hanging from trees, in windows, worn or carried, represent both presence and absence. They are a powerful symbol of lives taken too soon, voices silenced, and families forever changed. 🫂

❤️‍🩹 Today is about more than awareness. It’s about listening, learning, standing in solidarity, and continuing to call for justice and systemic change.

🌎 Mother Earth Day is a time to honour the planet 🌎 Mother Earth Day is a time to honour the planet and recognize the deep cultural and spiritual connection Indigenous peoples have with the land. The work of archaeology also depends on protecting the land, because once it’s gone, so is the story.

It’s also a reminder: progress doesn’t happen in silence, it happens when people show up.🌾

🌊 From protecting local ecosystems to advancing new solutions, environmental progress is built through everyday action. This year’s Earth Day theme, "Our Power, Our Planet," reflects a simple truth: real change is driven by communities. By people. By you. Because when individuals act, communities grow, and when communities speak up, the world listens. 🌱

We got outside and visited the Calgary Wild FC at McMahon Stadium (which was super cool) 🏟️ and even though it was cold we kicked the ball around ⚽️ We also spent some time outside completing an activity that applies our field skills using only a GPS, Compass, and paper field notes!

Equality isn’t just a word, it’s a movement! 🫂 💪 Equality isn’t just a word, it’s a movement! 🫂

💪 Today, as we celebrate Equality Day, we honour the courage and determination of those who fought for the rights we enjoy today.

In archaeology, equality means creating spaces where everyone, regardless of gender, background, or identity, can contribute, lead, and be heard 🪏🥾 It’s about recognizing the voices historically overlooked and ensuring the future of the field reflects the diversity of the people and stories we study!

Let’s keep speaking up, standing together, and remembering that every voice matters in the journey toward true inclusion. Together, we can build a future where equality isn’t just celebrated, but lived every day. 🤩🤝

🎉 Happy Two-Spirit Day! Today, we encourage you t 🎉 Happy Two-Spirit Day!
Today, we encourage you to join us in recognizing Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ Celebration and Awareness Day, and celebrate the vibrant, diverse identities within Indigenous cultures, honouring the important roles Two-Spirit people hold in their communities.

“Two-Spirit” is an Indigenous-specific term that is used to self-identify with expressions of gender or sexuality through a pre-colonial lens. Two-Spirit identities exist separately from Western constructs of sexuality and gender and are not equivalent to an LGBTQQIA+ identity. However, an Indigenous person may choose to self-identify as either Two-Spirit, LGBTQQIA+, or both! 🤗

🫶 Together, we can celebrate the rich cultures, diverse identities, and unique perspectives of Two-Spirit people while working toward a future of respect, inclusion, and empowerment! 🤩
